fall 2011 part 2

I have just had the pleasure of viewing the new Versace collection for autumn winter 2011/12, and they look phenomenal. The colours used are so vibrant and eye catching. At a first glance it is obvious that the idea of positive and negative has been played with in a clever way. Instead of just using a positive or a negative print in the middle of the garment Versace has used the same idea as a trim in many cases such as the baroque curlicues that were once a house signature were blown up into a single boldly coloured detail and used as necklines and just coloured blocks. The woollen crepes make for a fantastic military inspired silhouette which are seen strongly through the whole collection. Personally being a print student I find the first half of the garments in this collection to be the most inspiring as it follows on to go into using leathers and much more darker colours making the collection end in almost a vampish light.
